REGULATING OR PROCESSING EMOTIONS
Emotions can be regulated if given the right frame of acceptance and channel for realeasing them or eventually making peace with them. Be it any emotion, it needs to be acknowledged rather than suppressed. Because the former is a better way to deal with emotions, especially difficult emotions like anger, strong attraction etc.
It also needs to be remembered that deterioration of mental health and physical health can make it more difficult for us to handle strong emotions. Hence taking care of your health should be your priority.
Some tips which can make processing of emotions easier.
1. Journalling. Writing about your feelings and reflecting on them.
2. Therapy. Therapy can be a safe and effective way to process difficult emotions.
3. Avoiding taking unsolicited advice. When we are already in a vulnerable position emotionally, we get easily influenced by the opinions of others, which might not be always right for us.
4. Avoiding dysfunctional ways to deal with them. Abusing drugs/alcohol or using social media too much are some examples of ways to which we resort to in difficult times, but these ways aren't beneficial in long term and can impair short term judgement too.
