We are constantly running on auto-pilot mode, and many factors of this modern lifestyle and fast paced life are responsible for this. However, if we keep some simple things in mind, we can gradually take control and modify our life and make it more fulfilling and less stressful. Here are some simple tips which you can follow.
Plan your meals the night before and prep the main ingredients too ( eg. cutting vegetables, prepping curries). This saves time the next morning and also decreases the likelihood of you skipping breakfast of having take-out meals. Health matters a lot when it comes to our productivity and over-all well-being. Eating healthy and balanced diet is one of the most important factors to staying healthy.
Start exercising. Even if it's for 10 minutes a day, start getting active and gradually build your momentum and devote 30 minutes to physical activities like walking, running, weight training, aerobics etc. Exercise is essential to stay healthy and prevents you from many kinds of health conditions. It also helps your hormones to stay in a balanced state and increases overall mental wellbeing.
When considering self-improvement don't go for an all Or nothing approach. It's okay to take small steps towards progress if you can't go all in. Postponing those small steps in the wait of going all in can postpone your improvement too. It's okay to start small and ultimately it leads to big progress over time.
Avoid information over-load. We all seek improvements in our own ways. Sometimes listen to podcasts, buy a lot ot books, take up online courses. But in the process of gaining information, we take up so much that implementation becomes difficult. We might also forget a lot of things in the process. Hence, it is advisable to take up a few things at one time and implement them in our lives. When they are embedded properly, then we can make room for more.
Be mindful of what you feed your brain. In the age of social media and web, it's very difficult to shield ourselves from the vast array of information that comes across us. It leads to unhealthy habits like doom scrolling, binge watching and ultimately causes anxiety and stress. Hence be mindful of what you are watching online and also keep your screen time limited.
Get outdoors. Long working hours and household chores can confine us indoors and we are deprived of the power and beauty of nature. Hence, make sure to get ourdoors for a while and soak in some sunshine of just go near a picturesque landscape. It would uplift your mood and help you find calm.
Boundaries all the way. Be aware of what kind of people or situations drain you or energize you. Have healthy and firm boundaries in relationships, both personal and professional. And learn to say no, when it takes a toll on your mental and physical health.
Hope this helps. ❤
