4 ways to help a new parent
Being a parent for the first, or even for the second or third time in the beginning is not just a blessing but also a very tiring phase for both parents. Researches have shown that both parents lose many hours of nights sleep in the first year of their baby's life. So if your friends have become new parents, here are some ways in which you can help them.
Baby sit for them so that they can take a nap, get a shower or just go out for a coffee and chill for a bit. Of course you can be in touch with them in case they want to go out and if the baby seems to need them only.
Gift them healthy and nourishing snacks and yes, coffee! Especially for a breastfeeding mom, nothing can be better than healthy and tasty snacks to take nibbles in between meals so that she can keep her energy levels up.
Give them time and space. Taking care of an infant can put your sleep schedule all over the place and there are other things like work, household chores, grocery runs which can make a parent pre-occupied. So if you feel that your friend missed your calls, avoid gatherings or didn't reply to your messages, avoid nagging them for doing so.
Listen to them whole heartedly and avoid giving advice unless they ask for it. Sometimes they just need to be listened to and it's not possible for them to apply the ideal solution. Most of the times they know what could be done about a certain situation like you would have advised them to, but it is really unpredictable with a small baby to take a one generalized solution to problems.
I hope this helps.
Take care ✨
